Sabr – is a broad term which needs to be understood clearly. Achieving Sabr will reach a man towards the Satisfaction of Allah Taala; reap true Love of Allah Taala. Mufti Shafi Saheb (R) said, To be steadfast on the path of Allah Taala whatever be the situation; i.e. accomplish the deed which He had ordered is the reality of Sabr.
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhie Wa Sallam advised Hazrat Umme Salama (RA) the following dua after her beloved husband’s death. According to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam’s directions, the Sahabiya (RA) kept on praying the dua, which is:
Allahumma ajirnee fee musibati wakhlufnee khaiyram minha
Meaning: O Allah provide me shelter in this trouble and provide me the better substitute for it!
After this, Hazrat Umme Salama (Radi) got married to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam; this was the return she got for her Sabr!
Could the Sahabiya (Radi) ever contemplate such a better Substitute!
We therefore should take lesson. We are also the slave of Allah Taala. If we start obeying Allah Taala today and start building relationship with Allah Taala, He is always Forgiving and would shower His eternal Blessing on us beyond our imagination. He is dependent on Nothing; He cares None. His Order of KUN – i.e. ‘BE’ will within a moment ‘BECOME’ reality! We must firmly believe that He possesses all Power and Knowledge. All the beings and things we see and can imagine are nothing but the creation of Allah Taala. The beings and things possess no power of themselves, but await for Allah Tala’s Command in every movement and action. Each and every being and thing rely completely on Allah Taala. He is the Sole Creator (Khaliq) and Controller (Mudabbir) of the whole Universe!
Allah Taala would adorn each of our life with His Might (Qudrat) and Blessings (Rahmah) if only we turn towards Him. In the Holy Qur’an He has provided Good News for the Believers: “Those who undergo hardship for the cause of Deen (Islam), for them – the Paths of Hedayat will be wide opened….”.
One Buzurg mentioned in a stylish way, “O my Brothers! The objective of our hardship and making efforts on the Path of Allah Taala is nothing, but (through these efforts we are) to obtain Allah Taala’s support and utilize His Eternal Power in our favor!”
Therefore, our duty is to make efforts on the Path of Allah Taala (i.e. Refrain from sins and accomplish good deeds) and seek the support of Allah Taala in each and every task.
May Allah Taala provide me and you (the Reader) His Full Support & Shelter in this world and in the life hereafter. Ameen!
