Advice of Hazrat Abdul Hai Arefi (R), Khalifa Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Ashraf Ali Thanvi (R)
1. Value the time: Make a routine, which you may follow to use time properly.
2. Affix the time right after Fajr for Zikr, Tilawat etc. Make these Amals (deeds) short so that you can regularly do it.
3. Pass some time in the house (with family) in the intention of Sunnah. This will solve many problems.
4. Serve your father and mother in their life. Rights of father and mother are just after the Rights to Allah Taala. After their death, do as much as Isale Sawab possible.
5. Maintain good relationship with your brothers. Otherwise, conflict will make life miserable. Everyone should practice generosity.
6. Raise the children very carefully; it is an important responsibility. Build them up as pious; teach them the rulings of Shariah.
7. Building up the environment of house Islamic is Wajeeb – compulsory at this age.
8. Do not keep pictures and TV in the house. These will spoil us and ruin our lives. Especially the children will be severely afflicted by these.
9. Be very caring to guide the women (of your family) regarding veil. They need to be taught and practiced to remain under the veil (this is obligatory for every woman).
10. Maintain the bond of kinship. In Quran and Hadith this point has been described with great importance.
11. Maintain good relationship with your neighbors. Be patient with any of their rude behavior; Allah Taala will reward you.
12. Refrain from such social programs that urge innovations ( bid’at), shamelessness and violation of Shariah.
13. Establish Islamic atmosphere in the house. Accomplish every small deed according to Sunnah.
14. Take care of health. Eat, drink and do some exercise timely and regularly.
15. While mixing with people maintain limits. Do not let the limit of good relation exceed. It is not easy to fulfill the desire of all. Many people of this age selfishly mix with others and disrupt others life. Carefully mix with people (Have love and care for all, but don’t get engaged in unnecessary and excessive activities relating to others).
16. Make all your work Shariah compliant.
17. Always attach to good company.
18. Carefully make a choice of and select people whom you might have to regular visit and consult (such as: doctor, lawyer etc.).
19. Do not tell your personal information to other people. Such leakage of personal information may cause troubles and increase anxiety.
20. Unnecessary activities which occupy our time snatches away tranquility and peace. For instance, proactively taking interest in others matter, to take responsibility of others for pleasing someone and so on, because, at this age of tribulations, many unwanted troubles enter into life through engaging in others affairs. A little bit of variation on work or result makes people unhappy and disrupts the peace of heart. In all situation turn to Allah Taala. Surrender to him; consult the pious people at adversaries.
21. It is very important to read books which provides correct knowledge of Islam. Especially read the Quran and the Seerah of Rasullullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam. Besides this, read the Life of the Sahabas (RA). Also read the books of Hazrat Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (R) – his bayans and malfuzats (sayings). Do not engage yourself reading newspaper, novels and waste valuable time of your life. Reading the latter materials unnecessarily, will make your heart dark. Unnecessary readings will take one toward wrong way and may also make him completely astray. (May Allah Taala save us – Ameen!). Always consult Ulama if you have a question.
