This story is a real incident of many years back; it has been mentioned in the famous book Nujhatul Basatin.
One man went to his friend’s house and wanted some money, because he was indebted in loans which amounted four hundred dirham; he had no provision to pay back the money. Listening to his problems the friend instantly gave him much more than his need. After needy friend had left, he started weeping terribly. Seeing this, his wife told him, “Why did you then give the money, for which now you weep in pain?” Her husband replied, “I’m actually crying thinking that why hadn’t I known earlier how my friend is going along these days and why has such happened that he had to come to me for help! I must have known his problems earlier and helped him ahead!”
Allah Akbar! Ponder on this incident! Our noble predecessors were of what great characters! Alas! What is our situation? We are all brothers too. How do we stand aside in need and necessities of our brothers?
May Allah Taala grant us the understanding and ability to extend broad hands in people’s need! Ameen.
