Set Your Mind for Zikr Today

Zikr is a very broad term. Telawat of Holy Quran and Doing Tasbih (for example: reciting Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, La-Ilaha-Illallahu, Allahu Akbar) are two common very important ways of Zikr. Zikr of Allah Taala in any form is definitely a Highly Appreciated Deed and very easy too. However, we neglect this a lot. We waste lots of time doing things which have no worth in this world, let alone life hereafter. Though we know its importance, we are negligent of Zikr. If we spend 10 or 15 minutes for reciting Quran or doing some Tasbih – will it be any loss?

Actually we have little understood the Value and Purpose of our life. As the saying goes – “As you sow, so you reap”. Every Mu’min must do some Muraqaba on the afterlife and the termination of worldly life. When our life of this world will end, surely our opportunity of accomplishing deeds will also end! Alas! What will we do then? Think deeply: Will you scratch heads? Will you cry? Will you seek some more time to Allah Taala? Will any of these bring you back to this world and give you any opportunity?

My friend! Remember your Lord….See the verses of Quran and AHadith! Allahu Akbar – How many Verses are there – inviting, encouraging, calling, urging us all to do Zikr of Allah Taala! Each and every element of this Universe is doing Zikr. Muhaddiseen have also given some wonderful explanations as examples to depict – ‘How all living things do Zikr!’ For example: Trees are always standing – they are at the state of Qiyam, i.e. standing – as we stand in our prayer (Salat). All the four footed animals are in Ruku – as we bow down in our prayer (Salat) – because in Ruku our head and back becomes straight – at one level; a cow for example – by birth its back and head is at the form of Ruku! Such animals are in Ruku throughout their life. Allahu Akbar!

So if we can ponder on the Ayats  of Quran and AHadith and see the wonderful creation it becomes easy for us to do Zikr too! We must pay some heed on what our beloved Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam informed us! He inspired us to do Zikr as much as possible: Do Zikr to such an extent that people call you crazy ((from Hadith)). Tilwat of Quran is a means of cleaning our hearts according to Hadith! On the Day of Judgment, doing plenty of Istegfar (in the world) will be the reason for great happiness when someone would see his Book of Deeds (from Hadith). The more one recites Darood, the nearer s/he would be toward Rasulullah Sallallahu Allahyhi wa Sallam on the Judgment Day (from Hadith). Allah Tala has informed in the Quran that Zikr of Allah Tala will bring Peace and Tranquility in heart.

What is our job now? Set the mind? How many times for this dunya have we set our minds and then started working? If we rationally answer, the answer is simple – We have enforced us to do the works of dunya by hook or by crook; we thought very little before initiating a task, and got engaged in work very simply. Even if arrangements are necessary we do not linger. We make all the haste for earning anything for dunya. But when it comes to Akhirat – the afterlife – it becomes matter of long thoughts, calculation, we delay and linger. We have become so quite forgetful of the life after death. It is indeed coming! Whatever we sow here in this dunya today, we’ll sow there. But what is going to happen in case we don’t prepare for that life, which is indeed the eternal? The condition of the Pious is always the opposite of us. They engross themselves in Zikr and forgot dunya. Yet their dunya gets done.  But we, giving all excuses are fully oblivion of Akhirat! Ah! How foolish my friend!

So, let us initiate the easiest deed – Zikr, today.

O the Seeker of Allah! Where are you actually heading towards? This is not the path to Jannah – Probably you are unaware or are you blind? If you had been sincere and cautious you must have been much more caring and cautious. Think now and Decide now, because you may be already much late. But, it is better late than never. So initiate Now! Right Now my Friend! Spend some time thinking of the afterlife, recite the Quran, recite more and more La-Ilaha-Illallah, Darood and Istegfar.
