Keep on trying and crying in Ramadan; nothing to lose hope. Make efforts for accomplishing Good Deeds as much as possible; do Istegfar and repent that we couldn’t do rightly the deeds. Try your best and Cry to Allah Taala regretfully for acceptance.
Our mind would be deceived in several ways, which will make us hopeless. Be aware of those deceptions!
One deception is: We will make intentions: Inshallah I’ll do this and that good deed; but, not right now; first let me complete this worldly task.
This type of thought arouses frequently and we keep on lingering our Ibadat. Remember my friend! Time is being consumed and spent away. Don’t lag behind. Worldly task must be done within its time – and Ibadat in its time. Be cautious! Our state is that we take the time of Ibadat doing worldly task, but rarely do we start doing Ibadat within worldly task schedules. Especially in Ramadan, when the value of Ibadat increases so high! One Nafl = One Fard and One Fard = 70 times!!! So, here why do we give priority to worldly tasks so much?
One deception is: We remember our sins and become very hopeless. Many of us intentionally keep on remembering sins and make several Tawba for those.
We do not have the concept of Tawba and Istegfar. This is indeed very sad! A Muslim will not be steadfast on sins thinking that I’ll not be forgiven. If you do Tawba and try to refrain from sins, why won’t you be forgiven? Allah Taala and His Prophet Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam has clearly given good news of granting Pure Tawba. Whatever and however be our sins, no way – make Tawba right now and proceed with courage.
Hazrat Thanvi (R) has forbidden to remember past sins (for which we already did Tawba) intentionally. He mentioned the negative impact and misconception associated with intentionally remembering sins. One is, if we intentionally remember sins, our nafs gets a taste of the sin and there is fear that we again get attracted to those. Another point is, if while dua and Tawba or Istegfar we intentionally remember sins (for which we already did Tawba), as if we assume and/or demonstrate that my sins had not been forgiven by previous Tawba! – This notion is completely wrong; we are in doubt of Allah Taala’s Mercy and Forgiveness! In this regard, Hazrat Hakeem Akhtar Sahib (DB) has stated that we have not been asked to do the zikr of our sins, but asked to do the Zikr of Allah Taala.
However, if unintentionally our previous sins (for which we already did Tawba) comes into the mind we should do Tawba once and seek Allah Taala’s Help against our nafs and shaiytan. Just don’t linger the worries and thoughts about those and proceed on with usual works after Tawba and Dua. Islahi Majalis
Our Hazrat Mawlana Abdul Malek (DB) says, ‘Keeping on remembering past mistakes and sins will not give any fruit; proceed on and move forward with good deeds after once you have made Pure Tawba.”
One deception is: We make exhaustive intentions about good deeds and become frustrated when those are not accomplished. We give up doing Ibadat.
Just don’t make ‘impossible’ or even ‘too big intentions’, which you cannot accomplish. Though making big intentions is certainly good. However, exceeding limit is also not good. Be in the middle; make easy intentions and make plenty of dua to Allah Taala, so that Allah Taala provides ability. Be slow and steady on the Path of Allah Taala.
One deception is: We want to become ‘Perfect’ on the Path of Allah Taala – and we desire to become Perfect very soon. Again, when we see that Perfection is not coming we give up hope and doing Ibadat.
This is a big mistake for a traveler on the Path of Allah Taala. Should we intend to become Buzurg or too Pious? Or should we think that we can reach the levels of Prophets or Sahaba? The answer is a plain ‘no’. We must keep on working and believe that our Ibadat (worship) have a lot of mistakes and blunders. It is by the Grace of Allah Taala we can reach Him, Satisfy Him. We must not see the Output! Output is not our task – we can never imagine Output. Allah Taala will reach us to the destiny with His Grace and Blessing. We are asked to try and cry; make efforts and pray.
One spiritual aspirant wrote to Thanvi (R) about his development and mentioned that I am unable to attain the goal, unable to achieve the state, which I desire. Hazrat Thanvi (R) replied, “That day will be a dangerous mournful day in your life, when you will think that your state has become such, which you had desired. Because, on the Path of Allah there is no end of development and realizing this fact, the Prophets (Alaiyhimus Salam) also stated: Could not worship You (O Allah), as should be done.
In this regard remember Mawlana Rumi (R)’s saying, till the end of your life carry on with cutting and pasting; see where the mistakes are and take corrective actions; don’t sit idle for even a moment.
Actually Allah Taala is testing His servant’s effort on His Path! We must not give up thinking that we are unable to reach destiny. We are unable is right, however, we are not unable to make efforts! Allah Taala will fill the rest! He is the One to take us towards our Destiny! In this regard Mufti Taqi Usmani (DB) has a poem: “On this Path (of Allah Taala) there is no destiny; the destiny is becoming exhausted.”
Allah Taala has clearly stated in Quran (Meaning), So when you are free (from collective services), exert yourself (in worship), and towards your Lord turn with eagerness. [Surah Al-Inshirâh 7-8]
In the above Verses, Allah Taala has told Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam to engage in Ibadat with hardship.
One deception is: We claim to have doing Tawba from sins but not leaving the materials of sins at all. Now we complain, why is Allah not helping me (May Allah forgive!)
See my friend! Doing Tawba, making firm intentions to leave sins is one part; there is another part which needs attention. Most of the time we are not leaving the materials of sins. We mix up with evil company and continue going into adverse (i.e. evil) environments, where sins invite us. Abandon evil and bad company; don’t go to programs and places where sins take place. Attach to Pious Company. Give up reading Newspapers and browsing internet even if necessary for a time period. Media have stuffed up with filthy pictures! We need to build the life of Taqwa. You need to make ‘real world’ efforts on the Path of Allah Taala; only Dua is not enough. We need to initiate with courage and abandon all sins. See how in all walks of life Allah Taala helps us if we make effort and then do dua! Attain the Knowledge of Deen. Attach to the Ulama, Noble Men. The Road of Allah Taala is Braod Open for all! But till…..our death! And no one knows when it will approach. Don’t waste time!
