Meditation Points for a Muslim

From the Holy Quran, the AHadith and the words of Pious, it is clear that a Muslim should meditate on the following points regularly. Inshaallah, this would result in a successful-life in the world and hereafter:

1. I am the slave of Allah; I have no choice of my own, except my Lord’s.

2. I am here in this world, but for a short span; sooner of later, I have to die.

3.This life of the world is for test. I am being testified by Allah; every of our deed is being recorded. Therefore, I am accountable for every deed I do here.

4. The forthcoming life is the life of Aakhirah. That is the eternal life. There I am going to be rewarded or punished according what deed I accomplish in this world. Once I enter into Aakhirah, the afterlife, there will be no chance of returning to this world. Therefore, what I am earning in this world for Aakhirah is going to decide my fate.

5. No doubt Allah Taala sent Messengers to His slaves. The final Messenger Muhammad Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam has come and left this world. He has conveyed the Message of Allah through Quran and His Life – the Sunnah. Muhammad Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam is our Prophet, Guide and Guardian. Without following his guidance, it is impossible for one to walk on the Path of Allah. Therefore, I have to follow the Sunnah of Prophet Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam in all aspects of my life.

6. I must know the commandments of Allah. I have to obey all His Orders in all walks of life. In the same way, I must know His restrictions and refrain from all those which have been prohibited. Thus, attainment of essential divine knowledge is compulsory. Ilm or Divine Knowledge would correct my belief and concept regarding Deen; it would tell me, what is right and what is wrong according Allah Taala and His Rasul Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam.

7. Every deed must be done for the pleasure of Allah Taala and no other reason must be behind it. I must cleanse my intention at every work, i.e. do it for the pleasure of Allah.

8. I must trust and listen to the Ulama. They hold the authority of preserving and protecting Deen (Islam). In fact, Allah Taala preserves and protects Deen through His chosen slaves and they are none, but the Pious Scholars, i.e. the Ulama. They are the carriers of Quran,  Hadith and knowledge related to those (like Ijmah and Qiyas). The Pious Ulama have the knowledge of Quran and Hadith in total. Therefore, as a general person, I must follow the Pious Ulama, depend on them, take their guidance and follow their instructions only relying on Allah Taala.

9. The shaytan and my nafs (lower self) are my enemy. Allah Taala has engaged them to test me. I have to fight against these evils and NOT get trapped to their urge at any circumstances. If I fight back against them with courage, Allah Taala had promised to help me.

10. If I strive on the Path of Allah, He will take care of me – be how the situation seems worse or adverse. Therefore, reliance should be on none, but Allah.

11. Be how great my sin is, my Lord’s Rahmah (Blessing) is eternal. Therefore, there must be no frustration and hopelessness. With Tawba (sincere repentance), courage and supplication (seeking Divine support through Dua), I will keep on making effort on Allah’s Path.

12. As a Muslim, I can come out successful if I can build up my life on the premise of Taqwa. Taqwa‘s objective to is fear Allah Taala in all steps of life and it can be attained by refraining from all sins. Taqwa is the quality that directs human life towards complete obedience to Allah Taala.

13. To attain all good qualities into myself, I have to stick to the pious people. If I have good company, my life would advance towards the good and righteous path. This would result in both good in this world and in the afterlife. On the other hand, if I have bad company, my life would advance towards the evil. This would result in both bad in this world and in the afterlife.
