Mid Ramadan Thoughts

Just as everyone (living) is passing life, everyone is passing Ramadan. As there is no way to be satisfied upon our good deeds, we need to continually make efforts and move forward. With repentance and supplication the task becomes easy. Knowing the glad-tidings and rewards for accomplishing good deeds fuels us with strong belief and great inspiration to exert on the path of Allah Taala.

More or less we are all sinners. We should not break down. The afterlife is eternal and this on going life is temporary. However, what we do here in this temporary life, would decide our destiny in the afterlife.  Shaytan, our all time enemy, is always after us to make us hopeless. But Allah Taala and beloved Rasul Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam has several times mentioned and reminded us of refreshing life through reformation, purification and that is all what Tawba is about. Allah Taala knows well that His servants would make mistakes, engrossed in sins; therefore, He has provided the easy way out from sins and always make a come back to His path.  Ramadan is a golden opportunity of way out from a filthy life to a pure and holy one. It is much easier to attract the Rahmah of Allah Taala in Ramadan because the Lord Himself has opened up the chances for us – provided great assurance of achieving forgiveness: (Meaning of a portion of a Hadith) One who would fast (in Ramadan) in affirmation of Iman (faith) and hope of reward, all his past sins would be removed. [Bukhari, Muslim]

Since the beginning of Ramadan, we have neglected. We had violated the commandments of Allah Taala. Indeed, we have inappropriately passed away the invaluable moments of this holy month. We have missed great opportunities to attain the proximity of our Merciful and Benevolent Lord. No more sluggishness now! No more laziness now! Let us refresh and renew life through Tawba! Allah Taala is every forgiving!

Meditation at these moments:

Allah Taala is seeing me. He is my Creator. In His court I have to account for my life very soon. Death is the only event that I await. Right after it begins the afterlife; I will see by my own eyes what this worldly life was for; there would be no chance to return to the world! I need to work here – right now. The Angel of Death would timely approach me; right after that, I would be laid in my grave; the Munkar-Nakeer would come and ask me the three questions; I would face a terrible test at that moment; everything depends what I do here – in this world – now. I have to firmly believe the message of the Messenger-of-Allah-Taala.

Relatives, friends and associates all around have so much to talk about me today! But alas! How would they treat me when I would die! No one would be in my grave; no one would keep in touch; no one would remember! What am I doing and what am I up to? How is my bond with my Lord and beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam? What have I collected since my birth in this world?

My life has been a filth with dirt all around

Suddenly I heard the motion and a sound

The call of eternity – the call of my destiny!

My Lord has blessed me with chances of forgiveness today

How am I dealing my life – needs the attention to pay.
